The short version
You can play, print and download free activities without an account. Accounts are for parents and teachers who want their books in one place. On the Halloween page, you can enter an email address to get the free pack. We store that address on the Professor Otter Halloween list and use it to send you the pack. We never sell your information. On a deploy where the analytics keys are set, the site loads Google Analytics, PostHog, and Sentry. They see which page you open. PostHog also sees clicks on links and buttons, and it stores a random id in the browser. They do not get your name or your email. A deploy with empty keys loads none of these tools.
Children
Kids use the activities, but accounts are for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has made an account, email hello@professorotter.com and we'll delete it.
What we keep when you have an account
- Your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google.
- The books you buy: which book, the price and the date.
- Which sheets you print while signed in, so you can print them again.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. It isn't used for ads or tracking.
Who handles it for us
- Stripe takes payments. We never see your card number.
- Lulu prints and ships spiral-bound books, and gets your shipping address to do it.
- Resend sends sign-in emails, keeps the Professor Otter Halloween list, and sends that pack.
- Google handles "Continue with Google" if you choose it.
- Vercel hosts the site and Railway hosts the database, both in the United States.
- Google Analytics records which pages people open on a production deploy where the measurement id is set.
- PostHog records pages and clicks on links and buttons, and it stores a random id in the browser. It does not get your account email.
- Sentry records crashes and a sample of performance traces. It does not record session replay, and it does not get the sign-in cookie.
Deleting your information
Email hello@professorotter.com from the address on your account and we'll delete it. If you only asked for the Halloween pack, email us from that address and we'll take it off the list. We keep a record of past purchases, without your name or email, where tax law requires it.
